Founded in 1910, the 52-acre Brooklyn Botanic Garden is located near the Brooklyn Museum. Home to over 14,000 kinds specimens from all over the world, special gardens highlight various types of plants, with the botanic garden collections housed both indoors and out. Information about what's currently in bloom, suggested itineraries based on the time of the year, and a map of the grounds are available on the website. There is an art gallery, a small café, and gift store on the premises.

Monmouth Museum

Located on the Brookdale Community College campus, the 15,000 sq. ft. Monmouth Museum serves as a cultural center of the arts, history, and science to all ages and abilities. The institution has a diverse set of offerings—a couple of galleries with changing exhibitions of the work of local artists, a play space for toddlers, and two wings for children with a number of interactive exhibits and an outdoor nature area. Morris Museum

Founded in 1913, the Morris Museum is home to a rather eclectic mix of collections focusing on fossils, local wildlife, model trains, minerals, Native Americans, and paintings and sculpture, among other things. The jewel of the museum, however, is the Murtogh D. Guinness Collection of mechanical musical instruments and automata, a demonstration of which is conducted every Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm. Part of the museum is in a Georgian-style mansion designed by Stanford White. There is a museum shop on the premises.

The Guggenheim Museum's home in New York is in unique building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright which was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 2008. Originally founded to exhibit a collection of Hudson River School paintings, Storm King Art Center is a museum located on 500-acres in New York's Hudson Valley. Currently, the museum collects, exhibits, and conserves modern and contemporary art—from large-scale sculpture situated in Storm King's expansive landscape and site-specific earthworks to related drawings and photographs. The core collection includes pieces by Alexander Calder, David Smith, Mark di Suvero, Henry Moore, Douglas Abdell, Isamu Noguchi, Richard Serra, and Louise Nevelson. More recently acquired work includes large-scale sculptures by Magdalena Abakanowicz, Alice Aycock, Andy Goldsworthy, Alexander Liberman, Sol LeWitt, Roy Lichtenstein, and Maya Lin.
